IKON - Thomas Bock and Edmund Clark

The gallery features two very different artists: The talented convict artist Thomas Bock, who brings the viewer in contact with the indigenous people, he drew full of their dignity and sorrow and Edmund Clark. Clark’s interest in incarceration was the driving force which creates the foundation of this exhibition. With his art he challenges topics like the censorship, control and isolation prisoners experience. In cooperation with the HMP Grendon, he managed to get an insight into the daily routine and meetings. Most impressive and captivating was the multi-projector installation “My Shadow’s Reflection”. Seeing the combination of a inmate and a flower, projected on the green bed sheets and wandering around in the oppressive atmosphere, made you aware of your own freedom.
